Dataphyte Reports Recognised at PWC Media Excellence Awards

Two Dataphyte reports were celebrated at the 2023 PWC Media Excellence Awards. 

The award, which celebrates excellence in Business Journalism, is a yearly event hosted by the PWC.

For the second year running, Dataphyte’s Olanrewaju Oyedeji emerged as a finalist in the “Business and Economy” category for the story detailing the plight of Nigerians amid the cashless policy of the Central Bank of the country.

The story spoke about the plight of persons with disabilities in accessing money after the cashless policy of the country. 

Also, Odinaka Anudu’s story on Oil spills in Ogoni Land was celebrated in the Special Investigative Reporting category.

The story detailed unfulfilled promises in the bid to clean up Ogoni land. 

The PWC applauded the depth of work done and the importance of these works to the Nigerian societal realities.

While speaking at the program, the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Tax and Fiscal Policies, Taiwo Oyedele, lauded the literary labours of journalists, noting that they are essential for reforming the polity and for the development of society.

Welcoming the news, the Chief Executive Officer of Dataphyte, Joshua Olufemi, noted that these recognitions further spotlight Dataphyte’s commitment to research and impactful investigations that give voice to the underserved and help inform critical decision-makers in society.

He further stated that Dataphyte stays committed to excellence in reportage and will strengthen the media space through data-driven journalism and well-researched insights.
